The first photo shows an activity that our class completed in small groups. We've been reading the book Flat Stanley, and we wanted to see what Stanley really looks like. The students were given the measurements from the book--he's 4 feet tall, about a foot wide and 1/2 inch thick--and had to make Stanley from paper.
We talked about how many cms are in a foot but the students did all the calculations in their group. We also had a good discussion about proportion and keeping measurements consistent. Having our paper Stanleys helps us understand the book more.
